Counter Strike:GO Game Types

---------------------------------------------------------

Classic Competitive:

Two teams are pitted against each other in a variety of different maps. The objectives depend on what team you are on. The terrorist team must plant a bomb at one of two bomb site locations, while the counter-terrorists must try and discern where the terrorists are going to be and defuse the planted bomb. If either of the teams are completely eliminated (players have one life per round), the team that has a surviving player wins.

During these competitive matches, it is highly recommended that players have a microphone in order to call out attack plans and enemy troop movements (you can set the game to either voice detect or push to talk, I believe the default push to talk key is 'k'). During a match, at the top left of the players UI reads out where that player is located. The more you play on a particular map, the more you'll know the locations.

In order to receive better weapons, players earn money by:

a) Killing the enemy team.

b) Winning the match.

c) Losing the match (you receive less money by losing the match, however)

d) Planting the bomb (terrorist exclusive).

*Warning*
After waiting in queue and clicking the accept button, you cannot abandon the match. If you do so, you get a penalty that increases every time an offense is commited.

Aspects of competitive include:

a) Players start with $800.

b) Matches last 30 rounds.

c) Each round lasts two minutes.

d) Players are frozen in place during the 45 second buy time.

e) Players can only spectate your team and only in first person.

f) Players must buy armor in order to have it.

g) Friendly fire slows and kills.

h) Voice chat is limited to a player's own team (the only exception being at the beginning of the game, during halftime, and at the end).

Deathmatch:

Players spawn in random parts of a map with unlimited money. In order to buy weapons, you must press the 'b' key and you cannot move in order to do so. If a player does move, they are stuck with the weapon they had last and the invulnerability time is over. The only objective is to kill as many players of the opposite team as you can, everyone has unlimited lives.

You can leave anytime during deathmatch.

Hostage Rescue:

This gametype is very similar to competitive in terms of buying weapons and receiving money.

The objectives depend on what team you are on. The goal of the terrorist's is too simply prevent the counter-terrorists from bringing hostages to a safe zone while the goal of the counter-terrorists is to either kill all of the terrorists or bring a hostage to the safe zone.

Methods of obtaining money in order to purchase better weaponry:

a) Killing enemy players.

b) Picking up a hostage (counter-terrorist exclusive).

c) Bringing a hostage to a safe zone (counter-terrorist exclusive).

The safe zone is the counter-terrorist spawn.

Casual:

This mode is a combination of competitive and deathmatch.

The ways this mode is different are:

a) Players start with $2000.

b) Matched last 30 minutes.

c) Players are not frozen in place during the 45 second buy time.

d) Free spectate either team in real time.

e) Armor is provided at the beginning of every round.

f) Round last three minutes.

g) Friendly fire does not kill but does slow team mates.

*Warning*
After waiting in queue and clicking the accept button, you cannot abandon the match. If you do so, you get a penalty that increases every time an offense is commited.

Arms Race:

Players automatically spawn with armor and are given a weapon. In order to progress up the weapon ladder, players must kill enemy players. Weapon ladders depend on the server. However, in order to win in any server (no matter the weapon ladder), one must perform a knife kill as the last kill.

You can leave anytime during Arms Race.

You should add that Competitive can make you rage quit >.> Sometimes there are pros and sometimes there are wimps, and if your stuck against a pro, you'll find the wind blow against you and the sinking feeling to leave the game. You've been warned by Asi and competitive should be for the more experienced. Don't expect to be able to by Sniper Rifles every round >_>

In addition, the people in competitive matches have a huge chance of not being that friendly. Be prepared to hear raging if your team is not doing so well.

But, sometimes there are nice people. So if you need help with controls, need a weapon given to you, or advice on where to go in order to help the team, go ahead and ask.
