When you start CS:Source you're blasted with an extremely loud splash screen that makes you flip out of your chair.

... you can disable it.

In steam:
Right-click on the game title, select Properties enter -novid in the Launch Options. If you also launch CS through xfire:
Enter -novid in "Extra Command Line Parameters", make sure you press apply.
That's it!

These methods work for Global Offensive also.

Thanks for the info Jook! I'm glad there's a nice way around having to have quick enough reaction times to hit escape every time before you go deaf.
