Music from the Great Southern Land!

Post by Travis »

Australia has always had a culture significantly different than the United States of America, as well as our mother, England. But, nevertheless, I have found many appreciate the beauty in Australian music. I shall endeavor to actively post in this thread to share old and new songs that were hits here, as well as overseas.

I shall kick it off with a song, widely considered the greatest Australian song of all time, Khe Sanh by Cold Chisel.

Lead vocalist Peter Garrett, post Midnight Oil went on to enter The Australian House of Representatives and three Ministries, the first Rudd Ministry, the Gillard Ministry and the second Rudd Ministry, serving in multiple roles. He became The Honourable Peter Garrett AM (Member of the Order of Australia).

INXS' Original Sin was originally banned in the United States due to the lyrical theme, however became a sensation in Australia amongst other songs produced. Sadly, vocalist Michael Hutchence took his own life in 1997.

Something rather unique, Australian comedian/singer Tim Minchin.

Skip to 1.55 for the song.
