Speaking of that, World War I started 100 years ago as well ^^ Even though that is World War II

I thought World War 1 started July 28, 1914 and lasted until November 11, 1918. :think

September 13, 1814: Battle of Baltimore

British bombard Fort McHenry for 27 hours during the Battle of Baltimore. Their failure to capture it is a turning point in the War of 1812. The Royal Navy's bombardment inspired Francis Scott Key to compose the poem "Defence of Fort McHenry," which is now well known as the "The Star-Spangled Banner" (U.S. National anthem).

17th September, 1976: The first Space Shuttle, Enterprise, is unveiled by NASA.

On a related note, NASA just announced that Boeing and SpaceX won contracts to launch the next gen crew transports to the I.S.S.

Thanks, but I'm hoping others will post a few interesting historical facts on here as well.

Today was also the day that the U.S. Constitution was signed in Philadelphia in 1787. I was more interested in the Enterprise unveiling, so I went with that instead.
