On May 5th, 1945,
all German forces in The Netherlands surrendered
to the Allied forces.
This ended WW2 for the Dutch people.
This day is remembered every year as " bevrijdingsdag".( liberation day).

Thanks to all the members of the Allied Forces, who risked their lives for
our freedom.
Special thanks to the families of those who actually
gave their lives....we are forever in your debt.

July 31th, 1917, on this day the Battle of Passchendale (also known as the third battle of Ypres ) starts.
It has become a stark image of sensless sacrefice of human life .
It was led by high ranking english officers who had actually never seen the conditions in which the soldiers had to fight leading to enormous suffering.
