New SSD

Post by Elbarto »

I'm thinking about getting a SSD with 120-128GB for my laptop.
I have a 400GB HDD in it right now which has 2 partitions.
One has Windows and all programs and the other one is almost free.

How do i get my Windows and all my programs and the other data from the HDD to the SSD?
Is it even possible to do that?

Not as easy as it is on Windows as it is for Mac. You're better off doing a fresh install instead. If you clone the hard drive, there's still a process you have to go through that currently slips my tongue right now.

If you know how to burn an ISO file to a cd, you can use Redo Backup.

http://redobackup.org/

I've used it in the past to clone someone's old harddrive, install the new hard drive, and copy the cloned image to the new hard drive.

If you need some assistance, let me know. I can walk you thru it. It's very easy to do.

NOTE: You will need an external drive to store the image.
