I have an old 4gb thumb drive that I use to load ISO files and install on test PCs. It worked well until a few weeks ago. It was recognized by Windows, OS X, and Linux but showed 0 bytes on each one.
After searching my usual sites, I found this:
Low Level Format USB
The program mentioned worked great. The drive is now formatted and shows up correctly.
NOTE: CAUTION - make sure that you're formatting the CORRECT drive letter when you use the program above. Also, this program will only work if your drive shows up in Windows explorer (or Finder on OS X or Nautilus on Ubuntu). If you don't hear the "ba bum" when you plug in the drive, it's probably won't work.
Got a thumb drive that won't format or show up in Windows?
