I have been told that there are a few simple changes you can make to your router settings, in an effort to improve your ping in Halo? I see some people have an uncommonly LOW ping sometimes.
Anyone have any info on the subject? My ping used to be about 60 all the time. Without me changing anything, it now is commonly around 100, but I see a lot of folks come in with a 60 ping.
Rarely someone has a 35 ping & just wipes the map with our blood. HELP???
Ping is the time needed for a signal from your computer to a server and back.
I don't think it's possible to improve that with modem settings as the fysical speed and distance don't change,( unless your provider move the server .)
Three common things that impact on your ping (and/ore teansfere rate) are:
1 ping can be affected by traffic in your connection, depending on the type you
have, but you can't influence that.(Adsl lines are more sensitive to this).
Or 2 :your pc is downloading lots of other stuff (like big updates) at the same time which can cause delay's in your data stream, this may show as higher ping as more data has to pass your modem. (This depends , again, on the type of connection you use. )
3 Certain mallware secretly uses your connection to upload stuff with the same result as 2.
