When i connect to my Windows Live account. After my profile loads it tells me that Windows Live has a update for this game. So i click update and after the update it crashes and i'm on my desktop again.

Reinstalling everything related to the game (the game and gfwl) seems like a valid idea
(not meaning to hijack your thing here, but it doesn't feel good enough to justify a new thread, can you still Buy Halo 2 anywhere? Like on Gfwl or anything?)

You need to do the Command Prompt and Startup.exe thingy. If searching the internet didn't yield any results, then search some of the torrent websites. They can sometimes contain good information; that's how I fixed my issue.
(I scrubbed my computer and installed Windows 8.1 a while back so I lost all my Readmes and stuff for that

)
