I'm reading Naked Lunch.
By William S. Burroughs
the version I'm reading has "restored text", meaning
the things that were taken out of it due to it's being banned
in parts of the USA and Europe have been put back in.

Yes. They were the predecessors to the Hippie generation/lifestyle.
This is my first time reading literature so heavily influenced by
the Beat Generation.
