Today I got some great news: beatrix, dictator of The Netherlands has announced that
she will step down from the throne.

But then , she had to go and ruin it all and announce that her stupid son and his
power hungry , south American dictators offspring of a wife will take over

Vox - we live in a Republic here in the U.S, well TECHNICALLY it's a Republic.

I saw the announcement today. I bet it was quite the shock.

USA isn't a republic. We have democracy! Traits originated from the Greeks!

The United States of America IS A REPUBLIC. It is a constitutional, representative republic. It even says in the pledge of allegiance, "and to the republic for which it stands". That's the key difference between Republicans and Democrats, Republicans actually read the Constitution. Democrats are waiting for the illustrated version.

Yea, took the words right out of my mouth about the republic thing. We are a democratic representative democracy ... if that makes sense. There's four words to it. I'll ask my gov't teacher tomorrow morning.

My problem with them is that the , so called, "royal" family is practically above the law.
Crimes committed by members of this family are made state secrets, they get all
kinds of perks and tax reductions ( or are set free from taxes) , never have to wait for medical treatment and so on, and so on.....
for comparison:
The president of the U.S of A earns around 450.000 dollars.(est)
The "queen" gets over 7.500.000 euro's, her son 250.000 and his wife 250.000.
All that for a country that's just under twice the seize of New Jersey and has about 18 milj citizens.

Worse is that in WW2, they and the rest of our government fled to England, while ordinary soldiers
who pulled back whilst faced by superior German forces where put before a firing squad for being "coward".
And when the war was over they came back and pretended they had saved us.
(note: I don't blame them for fleeing , I would probably have done the same for my kids,...but I would never have the bloody nerve to come back and act as they did.)


But, as long as I don't get to vote on who's leading me, I'll have to deal with it.

Since the majority regarding any issue in this country are NEVER respected or even considered, this definition shows how far off-base we are.

We will never be a true democracy until or unless EVERYONE of legal age votes. Since I don't foresee that every happening, I'll stick with Republic - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/republic
