Opinions?
The National Security Agency has obtained direct access to the systems of Google,
Facebook, Apple and other US internet giants, according to a top secret document
obtained by the Guardian.
The program facilitates extensive, in-depth surveillance on live
communications and stored information. The law allows for the
targeting of any customers of participating firms who live outside the
US, or those Americans whose communications include people outside
the US.
It also opens the possibility of communications made entirely within
the US being collected without warrants.
The participation of the internet companies in PRISM will add to the debate, ignited by
the Verizon revelation, about the scale of surveillance by the intelligence services.
Unlike the collection of those call records, this surveillance can include the content of
communications and not just the metadata.

People in power need to control the masses to
stay in power.
There's alway's an excuse : social unrest, terrorism, communisme, kapitalisme or what -ism
they come up with and, when found out,
the :" but if you got nothing to hide , why would you be against it........,
or DO you have something to hide???" pops up.
I've given up all hope on privacy...you would've to give up your internet,
( mobile) phone , creditcard.......and your home and live in the woods to get
some....but they probably start looking for you right away
because you "act suspicious"...
Yes, I'm paranoid.....but that doesn't meen they're not watching me

I think it's even worse that us here in Europe can have our data handed over to the US government as well through this.
It's one thing collecting it from your own citizens, but world wide?
Reminds me of when the 2011 UK census was done. Our government foolishly contracted it out to a US arms company (Lockheed Martin) and there was all this controversy about the possibility for the US government to access the data because of their 'Patriot Act' or whatever it was.

I read the article thoroughly and it was very mich interesting. Not suprising in the very least. I have to say Vox has a good point too. I do believe we have to much civil disorder in this universe and the use of prism could greatly help us in several affairs. Hopefully governments worldwide won't change their politics to Authoritan and rule out our daily activities

.
It is also not right though that the US goverment is able to view European data. Countries should view their own data.
Wonderfull article. Thanks a million.

Realistically, if this concerns you it does beg the question, why? If you're doing anything illegal there are multiple ways to get around censorship and monitoring. If you can't get around the monitoring and censorship, well you really shouldn't be doing anything that could draw attention to yourself.

I was being 85% sarcastic.

I wasn't too surprised, I somehow expected something like this to occur, but not to such a great extent.

I used a proxy 1 year ago and my ISP cut down my internet for a while.. >.> not because I was downloading illegal things, but because they somehow managed to catch me using a proxy. They managed to censor TPB, but I got around it and I'm still able to access it easily.
There's not too much hope for getting around the censorship and the monitoring with my ISP, so I guess I'll have to leave myself exposed.
The VPN I'm using works fine and I haven't been caught.... yet. So we'll see how this goes c: I'll keep you privately updated.
