Nelson Mandela. 1918 ~ 2013:
Suffered for the strangers in a desperate land, brothers and sisters alike,
taken by the hand, leading straight and true from within,
mothers cry no longer, for their kin grow up in a peaceful land and not astray…
As times move forward, grow old and grey, but action runs free ‘til that final day,
when we as men meet our grand ol’ friend…
But a moment taken to look forward a thousand years upon next,
the time has gone to ignore it, for their favourite son has reached the holy grail,
smoke on the river shall remain ‘til we make it clean and not in vain…
He who ran into millions forgave the few who allowed the course to rise,
rest easy in the knowledge that He’s risen above all and truly fought ‘til the end…
A thousand mile white line drawn in the sand made for no man to conquer,
crossed it twice for every mile and will continue to do so for generations to come,
for the sun shall never set on the world’s favourite son…
