Australian Response to Downing of MH17 - 18/07/14

Today, Australians and the entire world awoke to deeply saddening and disturbing news news, Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 met with unimaginable tragedy whilst flying through Ukrainian airspace. Sadly, 28 Australians (correct as a 11:05pm, 18th of July, 2014) perished in the incident, bringing the total number of deceased persons to 298.
The Honourable Tony Abbott MP spoke about the incident to the Australian media at 4:40pm today. The Honourable Prime Minister had this to say:

His Excellency The Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC the Governor of Victoria is yet to make an offical statement, one is expected to be made in the comings day, much in-line with the Governor-General of Australia.
The Honourable Prime Minister has declared Saturday, the 19th of July a national day of mourning. All flags flying at government buildings have been ordered to be flown at half-mast our of respect for the Australians whom perished in the disaster. The Honourable Premier of Victoria has ordered all flags flying at government buildings to be flown at half-mast during the AIDS Conference, where many MH17 passengers were traveling to.
