NO RADAR

I'm not a lover of radar on DI, knowing where the whereabouts of my enemy massively spoils the fun for me,
now that ASH has two DI servers running I would like to see one of them lose the radar.

I know what you're saying AMED. I get at least 60 to 70 percent of my kills using RADAR. I'm used to playing without it and since these servers have it I've found my kill rate has increased dramatically. I used it, tonight, when you jumped off the cliff and then off the tree. I would have never found you without it. I always use it when I'm in the banshee. I scan the island with it, so if someone is hiding I can find them. No matter where they are. I like it but I know most people don't use it or at least they don't use it effectively. If the leadership decides to remove the RADAR from one of the servers, I would hope that they do it to the one that is most popular. If it takes a hit, it won't make as much difference.

Exactly, you would have never found me without it, that is just my point, this takes the skill factor out
of the game, poq never had opponents showing on radar and thats what i'm used to and
at the moment its spoiling it for me, we have two DI's so you may as well change one of them. :(

I agree, It's up to the leadership, but if I had a vote I would say that it really can't hurt to change one of them. I really don't think it's going to effect the numbers that much because, like I said, I don't think that many people use it effectively. I see people flying over targets all the time and they don't attack or make any move towards them at all.

Ya know, if we are going to experiment on one of the DI servers, maybe we should talk about limiting some of the jumps also. Whether we do it or not is up to the leadership but we can at least talk about it.

There are certain things, on the map, that we use and certain things we don't. I don't use the jumps that go across the map. I think that takes the skill and fun out of the game. Any jump that takes you more then half way across the map does that.

I know these are "Modified Maps" and clans take pride in their ability to uniquely modify maps to suite their members and the general public. I'm all for that, but this is what happens to overly modified maps. Eventually no one plays them. It happens in stages.

First stage: Everyone loves it. It starts to become popular. Everyone has a fair chance at success because no one knows the jumps or modifications. It's basically an unmodified Halo map because no on uses the jumps, in a coordinated way, because they don't know them.

Second stage: Some members of the public learn some of the jumps, from clan members, and gain an advantage over the ones that don't. They become some of the top players on the servers.

Stage three: The servers are ruled by players that know the jumps. The experianced players really aren't playing the game. They spend all their time in the jumps, immune from being shot. Because they don't know the jumps, new players become discouraged to play and stay on those servers. They literally have no chance of winning.

Stage four: Server becomes abandoned because of non-use. The experienced players are bored of winning with very little effort. The non-experienced players don't go into the server, or worst, they don't come back.

Now, I don't want to sound like Chicken Little and this is, obviously, an extreme example but I think you can see that most modded servers will eventually fail.

I also don't want anyone to think I'm against modded servers. I like most of the mods on our DI. I only play on modded servers. I'm simply against mods that take the competition out of the game. I believe that we should have to fight our way to the flag and then fight our way back. That is exactly what Capture The Flag is all about. This is all just my opinion. Yours probably differs. So, let's hear it.
