A Look Inside- Writing

I got some inspiration to write a little something this morning.

In the dark, memories of my past rush forward.
I see misery, and agony.
Fights among closely linked people,
The heart wounds begin to take root.
There are tears. Tears of pain, tears crying out to the Father.
I see joy also.
Story tellers recounting their life accounts.
Juice spraying from mouths bursting in laughter.
I see my family, and those not forgotten in the dirt.
I see those whom I never met, but occupy space in my heart.

The memories flood my mind. They come in pictures, and short video clips.
I love this, I don't want to leave.
I am being taken into another realm.
The emotions seduce me into a fantasy.
I lose sight of reality.
The world around me doesn't exist.
Yet suddenly, the movie comes to a close.
The memories take steps out the door. One by one, I wave them good-bye.
I am sad to leave my friends, I didn't want to leave just yet.
But reality soon takes over, and the world around me shifts forms.

That is only my 2nd attempt at poetry. I used to have a blog that I would write in a couple times a month for about a year. About 2 years ago God told me to start journaling. I still journal today.

You should never stop writing no matter what.
Even taking pausing from recording what's in your mind, days events.

I used to keep a journal then stopped writing for awhile....of course, I wish I never stopped.
Too many ideas and thoughts lost now, oh well!

I have a book that I am learning poetry from, but for this specific piece I did not write by any format. The book had a paragraph that gave me some inspiration to write about something that was lingering in my heart. And although the poem that I wrote doesn't exactly flow, or follow any recommended format, the poem allowed me to express what I had been feeling inside and to let it go.
