WWII Saw the rise of the modern day special operations,
With groups such as the UDT (Underwater Demolitions technicians, they would later turn into the Navy SEALS) and the Army Rangers, both of which deployed on the beaches of Normandy, without the UDT teams clearing obstacles from the beaches, the invasion of Normandy wouldn't have happened, that and the Rangers were just awesome at killing things at that time so they did a Fantastic job, (200 of them took out some 1,600 men and a number of tanks, they suffered staggering casualties, but that cleared out alot of resistance)
