demolition?

Post by A§H»Rogue »

Our pipe froze behind a wall. water at the sink where water come into house and the downstaris shower but not at the sink nex to it. I am so frustrated trying to get it thawed. NExt step is to remove the shower unit and get into the wall. This is the third time it has happened since we moved in (2001) and have tried everything else. Forgetting to let the sink drip on a cold night and this happens. It hit -3 last night and forgot makes for a wonderful morning. ugh got to get back to it

Dam m8, that sounds like a pain in the ass. Is there a way to insulate or lag the pipes afterwards? Hope you get it sorted bud.

Water is back on. a blessing in it self. the shower and part of a wall is now gone though. Only used that shower 4-5 days before as it is a samll stand up unit and downstairs. So was thinking about turning it into a closet but the wife spoke witha realitor and said since we have aroom downstairs tht could be a bedroom resale value is much better with 2 full baths. So I guess it is another shower unit going in. I did get more insulation behind the pipes and found 2 drafty areas but do think that on our fridgid night I will be letting the faucet drip still. Lowest temps. I have seen in my 20+ years here is -16. Just no way to get enough insulation between outside wall and pipes without going a lot further and demoing a few walls and moving pipes. When the built they should have taken the pipes in 6-8 feet and gone up an inside wall not an outer wall. needless to say it has been a long and frustrating day. Will have to do some shooting in a bit.

Oh forgot to add now the cleanup. damn
