Well the way you described it, you're using something to merge the two displays into one, like EyeInfinity. By default, windows keeps the displays separate, and games will fullscreen on the main display.

Sorry if it was unclear, didn't mean merging I ment the desktop that is on the 26" when the screen is attempting to upscale, the desktop then leaks over to the secondary display but the game is full screen on the primary.

Lol you are about to completely spin this topic off of its directed course XD and stretching your screen with dual displays is perfectly possible, I do it all of the time

Preator I know exactly what you are saying. I have the same effect with my 2 23 inch wide screens. I've played with the halo video settings and can't stop it from smashing my open apps on the second monitor.
I wish I had an answer too.

Think I might have sorted it. When I'm playing portal there is a video setting for "native" so that is what I use and it works perfect. Think I will have to add a custom screen size in the startup icon for halo.

Posting based on that.

I did have a dual display setup but a couple months ago my second monitor died so now I'm down to a single monitor. The resolution for my main display is 1920x1080, and if I played any game at a smaller resolution then this it would push everything over onto the second monitor. I believe this happens because its (maybe?) temporarily changing the resolution of your monitor when you play a game at a lower res then what your monitor is usually set on, meaning that everything gets pushed over. Its pretty much the same affect that you would get if you went into your display settings and turned your resolution down for a few minutes and then turned it back up to where it was to begin with.

Decided to read OP ._.
Pr@3tor wrote:Hi all, just a quick one, I run two monitors using Displayfusion, (have done for years) its good but I have always been annoyed that when I fire up Halo (or any game) it takes ages to up-scale the game and some of the primary desktop leaks over to the secondary monitor. I usually turn off dual monitors when I am about to play games. Any ideas? o.o
Like I said, when the resolution in the game that your playing is lower then your monitors set resolution it will push everything over. I wouldn't recommend playing halo at w/e resolution your monitor is running on though just to fix this thing that simply annoys you. For over a year now I've been playing halo at the highest resolution that was available but only recently I found out that all this time that higher resolution was causing problems in-game and making me miss most of my shots. What happened was I saw things that weren't there, or weren't in the actual place that I was seeing them at, so when I would shoot there it wouldn't hit the actual target because the target wasn't actually there. This is the risk you take when you use certain resolutions or FOV changes in halo.

I've got dual monitors at work, and they're great. I'm going to buy another monitor like the one I have at home so I have them here too.
